On the final day of tours before the Neighborhood was sent to storage I spent all day in the Neighborhood of Make Believe with Mr Mcfeeley twisting balloons for hundreds of kids taking the final tours. Mr Mcfeeley and I were the last to leave the Neighborhood of Make Believe.

I am a teacher and Mr Rogers is my idol. His story reminds me to be patient and help children express and deal with their emotions. I hope that I can be as great a teacher as Mr Rogers was. ❤

I couldn’t wait for Mr Rogers to come to my house every day. I sang along with him and when the day was through, I’d tell my mom about the people in the neighborhood. I visited with Mr Rogers well past childhood, as his unwavering love and patience were everything. As a parent, I talked to my kids about Mr Rogers all the time and when my niece went to college in Pittsburgh, I finally got to visit Mr Rogers’ actual neighborhood. We go to the memorial there and watching the little ones climb on the statue and knowing how FR would love that- it gets me every time. When FR passed, I sent a note to his family and although I shouldn’t have been surprised that they responded, when they wrote back it was an affirmation of all the thing FR had told me over the years- that he liked me just the way I was, and that my note pouring out my love and respect for a wonderful man -although assuredly one of thousands— deserved a response. His beautiful widow was the keynote speaker when my niece graduated from college— she and an arena full of people sang the Mr Rogers’ Neighborhood theme song together. I often quote Mr Rogers, and just last week used two on-point quotes in a continuing legal education presentation on putting the needs of the children first. Mr Rogers opened and closed the presentation- and rightly so, since he is and likely always will be the leading expert on making children feel safe, secure and loved.

I was a huge Mister Rogers fan growing up. His calm & gentle demeanor were of great comfort to me during my early childhood years. He and his teachings have made a huge impact on my life & continue to do so. Now, I never met Mister Rogers in person, but I did write to him a few times when I was little, and he wrote me back every single time. In fact, I still have a couple of those response letters.

I'm a jazz buff & I was exposed to it a few times when I was a kid, especially when it was featured on shows like "Mister Rogers' Neighborhood". Speaking of which, in April of 2017, I actually got a chance to interview jazz guitarist Joe Negri (aka Handyman Negri) for the jazz radio show that I host here in Amarillo every Sunday night. It was an unforgettable experience, I'm here to tell you. In addition to occasionally playing covers of Fred's songs on the air, a few times, I've also dedicated 30 minutes of the show to playing jazzy sound clips from the Neighborhood, particularly to honor a special Mister Rogers-type event that was going on locally or nationally (ex. the premiere of "A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood").

What does Mr. Rogers mean to me?

Oh my!

Very hard question

He represents the wsy i model my life through kindness, Agape (Gods love), compassion to friends and family and, making sure people know how blessed rhey are, just as they are

Jesus loves us judt as we come. So did Fred. So do i. So should everyone

Mr. Rogers is the biggest inspiration in my Christian walk, second only to Jesus, especially in today's fast paced digital pandemic filled world, where it's "safer" to stay away and hide behind a screen 😀

Fred wouldn't have done that. He would do as Jesus does and minister to the hurt and lost

I try to do that online with a smile, a kind word , a video, a picture anything that represents love joy peace happiness from a Christian perspective 😊 ❤
